Black Sky Fox

Black Sky Fox | Solo Exhibition

Art Space on The Concourse, Chatswood NSW
29 June - 10 July, 2022
Curated by Anoushka Sansom
Black Sky Fox is about strength, resilience, and my Aboriginal identity as a Murrawarri woman. Using the central motif of the Flying Fox, the exhibition celebrates connections to place and community. Weaving features in the exhibition both physically and symbolically. The figurative elements of the bats are interwoven with the branches on which the bats hang, representing the complex and fragile interconnections between family, Culture, Country and Language. The works encompass drawing, painting, mixed media, textiles and weaving, sculpture, and sound work. Language is woven into the works reflecting its scattered but persisting presence. Pinampiy Kayila Murwari - “I remember Muruwari”.
