Weaving Connections with Virginia
Weaving Connections is a free interactive weaving and yarning circle that supports cultural connection and builds understanding through collaborative weaving. Connect with others while you learn about the artist's connection to culture, learn sculptural weaving techniques, share a story, and discover a new skill.

The City of Wollongong's Culture Mix Festival is on again this October. Join muruwari artist, Dr Virginia Keft, for a series of free creative art workshops for the whole community. Connect with others while you learn about weaving techniques, design and textiles.
We invite you to participate in a community artwork. Virginia will guide you through the process of creating an artwork that she will incorporate into a large sculpture, to be displayed at Culture Mix Festival in the Wollongong CBD on 19 October. |
Accessibility: These workshops is for 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult). No prior experience is necessary; whether this is your first time joining an art class or you are a practicing artist, all are welcome. Materials will be provided. Places are limited, booking is essential to reserve your spot. This is an all-ability and all-gender workshop. People living with a disability are welcome to attend, please bring your carer/support person with you if you require assistance to participate in the workshop.

Intergenerational Weaving & Yarning
In collaboration with Lane Cove Council I am thrilled to offer a series of workshops designed to bring members of the community who are 55years and over together with young people across primary schools in Lane Cove for weaving and yarning workshops.

Gidju murra: Weaving & Art for Small HandsGidju murra is an interactive weaving, collage and creativity workshop for children and families. Gidju Murra means ‘small hands’ in Muruwarri language. Families with young children are invited to play creatively with Indigenous weaving techniques while using a variety of art materials.
The activity will introduce participants to the artist’s weaving techniques while thinking about themes of place, Country and nature to create a vibrant and personal weaving artwork. |
Wirambi: Make a BatWirambi: Make a Bat is an interactive bat-making art workshop for kids and families. Participants are invited to play creatively with collage, textiles, and a variety of sculptural techniques to make a unique Flying Fox artwork. The children will be guided by the artist to make their very own bats that they can take home with them or add to a collaborative display.

Colours of CountryColours of Country invites you to create a vibrant mixed media artwork inspired by place, Country and nature. Virginia will guide you as you explore colour, texture, and design and spark your creativity as you experiment with techniques and textiles. This is a family-friendly workshop and is suitable for anyone that enjoys being creative.
